Manchester United Legend Billy Meredith Remembered
A true football superstar
Billy Meredith made 335 appearances for Manchester United and is considered one of football's first superstars.
Meredith was a winger who played for United from 1892 to 1921, winning two league titles and an FA Cup during his time at the club.
He was also a key member of the British team that won the gold medal at the 1908 London Olympics.
Meredith died at the age of 79 in 1958, and is remembered as one of the greatest players of his generation.
His memory is honoured with a statue outside Old Trafford, and he is also remembered in the club's Hall of Fame.
